How to store RO membrane elements: temperature, shelf life and what to avoid
Storage temperature, shelf life of wet and dry elements, and the mistakes that damage an element for good.

Where to store
Indoors at 5–35 °C, dry, ventilated and out of direct sunlight. Never below 5 °C: an element must never freeze. Keep the cartons out of water.
Handling
Handle elements gently. Do not throw them or let the cartons drop.
Shelf life
- Wet elements: use within 6 months of shipment.
- Dry elements: use within 1 year of shipment.
- Wet elements kept longer need fresh preservative solution.
What to avoid
Never add chemicals that can harm the membrane, in storage or in operation. Ignoring these rules is likely to damage the element permanently.
